Pairadocs, have you made one-piece molds before? If not, maybe try experimenting with them to get a feel for molding and getting your resin just right.
I started working with molds and resins about 10 years ago when my dad introduced me to Bondo two-part resin (he's a gearhead). I'd make a one-piece mold by taking some Play-Doh, flattening it, and pressing objects to cast into it and pouring in the resin.
Since Play-Doh's water-soluble, it was easy to clean off the mold and be left with a hard resin copy.
Anyway, have some fun with that if you haven't already (maybe get your son to help), get your mixing ratios down and some experience in molding, then work with all that gorgeous mold-making equipment.
